Overview
Overview
This new 2027 Peterbilt 567 conventional day cab is a triaxle chassis spec'd for hauling construction materials. It's built on a 242" wheelbase, has an 80,000 lb GVWR and an 80,000 lb GCW, and is finished in Viper Red.
Engine & Drivetrain
Power comes from a Cummins X15 (PROD Series) rated at 565 HP @ 1,950 RPM. It's governed at 2,000 RPM and makes 1,850 lb-ft of torque @ 1,000 RPM. The engine meets 2024 emissions and is EPA emission and idling compliant. The powertrain is optimized for performance in vocational or heavy-GCWR applications, with a typical operating speed of 68 MPH and a 68 MPH max cruise control speed.
The engine is paired with an Allison 4500 RDS-P Rugged Duty Series Gen 6 automatic in a 6-speed configuration. The transmission has a TC-561 torque converter, a dash-mounted push-button shifter, Neutral at Stop, and primary shift schedule 2. Other drivetrain equipment includes a Jacobs compression brake with controls on the right-hand column, an 1810 HD driveline with one midship bearing (4.5" x .180 wall tubing), and a 1710 interaxle driveline. PTO support includes a dash-mounted, single-acting electric-over-hydraulic PTO control and a 12-pin remote PTO/throttle provision in the engine bay, with PTO max engine speed set at 1,400 RPM.
The electrical system includes a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator, a PACCAR 12V starter, and three PACCAR Premium 12V dual-purpose batteries rated at 2,190 CCA. There's also a Kissling 300A power disconnect switch for the cab and sleeper mounted on the battery box, plus a low-voltage disconnect system. Supporting equipment includes a 37.4 CFM air compressor, a 2-speed fan clutch for frequent start/stops, a high-efficiency cooling system, a firewall-mounted air cleaner, and a 110–120V immersion-type block heater. The fuel system has a PACCAR extended-service-interval fuel/water separator with both fuel heat and 12V heat for the fuel filter.
The dual exhaust has a LH SOC stack aesthetic, with the DPF/SCR under the cab on the RH side in a single module. It finishes with 7" chrome-plated standpipes (24" high), curved tips, and chrome exhaust pipes. Engine protection shutdown is enabled, and the idle shutdown timer is set to 5 minutes with an ambient temperature override. The truck also runs on EMUX electronics architecture with global telematics hardware and a 5-year SmartLinq RD subscription.
Chassis & Axles
The frame uses 10-3/4" steel rails, 3/8" thick, running to 354". It has a full steel inner liner, zinc-coated anti-corrosion treated rails, aluminum crossmembers, HD iron front spring brackets, and a square end of frame with a steel crossmember.
Up front is a PACCAR FX-20 wide-track steer axle rated at 20,000 lbs with a 4" drop, steered by TRW THP60 dual-gear power steering with a frame-mounted reservoir and cooler. The rear axle is a Dana Spicer D46-172 rated at 46,000 lbs with a 4.30 ratio. It has tandem diff locks with speed interlock, heavy wall housings, and a lube pump, and all axles run synthetic lube. The Hendrickson EXS20 self-steering pusher is rated at 20,000 lbs and sits 52" from the forward drive axle. Its lift regulator and gauge are at the driver's seat with a switch and gauge in the dash, and it stows higher when lifted for more ground clearance. The GAWRs are 20,000 lbs front, 20,000 lbs first intermediate, 23,000 lbs second intermediate, and 23,000 lbs rear, for an 80,000 lb GVWR. Cab-to-axle is 151.9", BBC-to-front-axle is 90.1", cab-to-end-of-frame is 224.9", and the max grade rating is 6%.
Braking is handled by Bendix ADB22X air disc brakes up front and Bendix Air Cam 16.5 x 7 drum brakes at the rear. The rear brakes have camshaft reinforcement, gusseted cam brackets, and upsized pneumatic parking brakes. Safety systems include Bendix 6S6M ABS with a programmable rail/drilling mode, Bendix Smart ATC traction control, and tire pressure monitoring. The air system uses a Bendix AD-HF EP air dryer with heater, coalescing filter, and extended purge, feeding polished aluminum air tanks mounted outside the frame rails with pull cords on every tank.
The truck carries a 120-gallon 26" polished aluminum fuel tank under the cab on the LH side with a polished non-slip step. A small HD DEF tank sits on the LH back of cab under a polished stainless cover. The polished aluminum space-saver battery box is on the RH back of cab with side access, next to a non-slip aluminum aftertreatment cab-entry step. Up front is a deep tapered chromed steel bumper with two tow points and a toe-step cutout, and an air connection and 7-way socket sit at the end of frame.
Suspension
The front suspension uses taper leaf springs rated at 20,000 lbs, with Tenneco shocks, greasable spring pins, and 80 mm spacer blocks. The rear rides on a Peterbilt Air Trac suspension rated at 46,000 lbs with 52" axle spacing. It uses air springs with internal bumpers and a single leveling valve at the forward drive axle. A dash-mounted suspension dump switch with indicator light is included.
Cab & Interior
The vocational 121" BBC aluminum cab has a Metton hood (SFFA), a stainless steel crown and grille, and tilt assist. It includes a thermal insulation package and cab air suspension. Inside is a Prestige interior in Sterling Gray with black seats. The driver gets a Peterbilt LX Premium high-back air-ride seat in fabric/vinyl with LH and RH armrests. The passenger has a Peterbilt ST non-adjustable high-back vinyl seat with a toolbox underneath and mounted tow hook holders. A multi-function steering wheel with audio and cruise controls sits on a tilt/telescoping column.
The 15" digital instrument cluster shows transmission oil temp, air filter restriction, brake application pressure, engine and PTO hourmeters, and engine percent torque. Backlit gauges cover engine oil temp, manifold pressure, air suspension pressure, and pusher axle pressure. Audio comes from a ConcertClass AM/FM/WB radio with 3.5 aux, Bluetooth phone and audio, a USB port, and two speakers, and it mutes automatically in reverse. The cab is also wired for a header-mounted CB radio, with a mic clip, speaker, and LH cowl antenna. Other comforts include Peterbilt keyless entry, power door locks and windows, and a combo fresh-air heater/AC.
The cab has a one-piece curved windshield, a fixed 3-piece rear window, and dark window tint. Peterbilt Aero mirrors are motorized and heated with integrated convex lenses in bright housings, and there's a look-down mirror over the passenger door. Exterior touches include a stainless steel outside sunvisor, bright hood air intake bezels, 4.5" rubber fender lips, a removable bugscreen behind the grille, and dual 23" round roof-mounted air horns. Lighting includes projector headlight pods with fender-mounted turn signals, five aero LED marker lights, LED stop/turn/tail/backup lights at the end of frame, and switch and wiring for a beacon/strobe. The cab also has two additional dash switches, an NFPA-compliant exterior grab handle, a deep map pocket on the rear wall, and intermittent wipers. Safety equipment includes a 107 dB backup alarm, a fire extinguisher, and a triangle reflector kit. The cab, hood, fenders, hood top, and cab roof are finished in two-stage Axalta Viper Red over a black frame.
