Overview

Overview: This 2023 Peterbilt 579 is a Class 8 sleeper tractor with an in-service date of July 7, 2022. It shows 560,175 miles and an ECM reading of 11,352 engine hours. It went through a Peterbilt Red Oval truck inspection with a full PM service, plus a Peterbilt courtesy inspection, and it passed a state safety inspection. Work done during reconditioning covered the aftertreatment system, cooling, exhaust, steering, suspension, the drive axle, the electrical system and the glass.

Engine & Drivetrain
Engine & Drivetrain: Power comes from a PACCAR MX-13 rated at 455 horsepower and 1,750 lb-ft of torque, and the engine was appraised in good condition. It drives through a PACCAR automated transmission to a 2.64 rear axle ratio. During reconditioning the engine got a PM service with a new PACCAR oil element, an ESI MX fuel filter kit and 10W-30 CK-4 oil. The engine air filter and cabin air filter were replaced. The coolant was drained and refilled with 50/50 extended-life coolant, and a new PACCAR coolant filter went in.

Aftertreatment & Exhaust: The DPF and DOC assemblies were removed, professionally cleaned and reinstalled with new gaskets and V-band clamps, and a regeneration confirmed they work properly. The exhaust was also repaired with a new flex pipe, a new injector-housing exhaust pipe, and new injector gaskets and clamps. After that the truck completed a full regen with no codes returning.

Cooling: A new charge air cooler was installed. The A/C condenser, lines and brackets were removed and reinstalled during that job, and the truck passed a road test afterward.

Chassis & Axles
Chassis & Axles: The tractor rides on a 250" wheelbase with a GVW rating of 52,000 lbs. It has a 13,200-lb front axle and 40,000-lb tandem rear axles with differential locks. The forward rear differential was resealed at the carrier-to-housing joint and refilled with 75W-90 full synthetic gear oil. The steering gear mounting was fixed with new M16 hardware, torqued and checked on a test drive. The air governor was replaced, and system pressure now builds and cuts out properly at 120 psi. Brakes measured 50% on the front and rear axles.

Suspension
Suspension: The rear suspension is air leaf. All four front axle U-bolts were replaced with new 3/4" U-bolts and grade 8 hardware, torqued to spec. A new OE-replacement torque rod was installed at the rear.

Cab & Interior
Cab & Interior: The 80" UltraLoft sleeper has a Premier interior in Alpine Gray, which shows normal wear. A new one-piece windshield and new wiper blades were installed.

Body & Equipment
Body & Equipment: The exterior is Sovereign Blue. Equipment includes an air fifth wheel, dual fuel tanks with a listed 120-gallon capacity, four new Group 31 severe-duty batteries and new 24x30 poly mud flaps.

Tires & Wheels
Tires & Wheels: The truck runs on low-profile 22.5 tires front and rear, listed as virgin tires.

Warranty & Protection
Warranty & Protection: This truck is eligible for the PACCAR Engines Pre-Owned Warranty, known as Red Oval. It can be added for 12 months/125,000 miles or 24 months/250,000 miles, and it covers more than 100 engine and aftertreatment components, including the camshaft and bearings, cylinder head and gasket, DPF, aftertreatment ECMs, turbocharger, water pump, fuel system and SCR system. Peace of Mind Protection, a 90-Day Buyer’s Assurance, is included as standard. It covers the air system, alternator, brakes, cooling module, DEF components, crossmembers, frame rails, HVAC, power steering, axles, suspension, starter and transmission. An Extended Vehicle Warranty Option is also available for 1 year/125,000 miles or 2 years/250,000 miles. All coverage is subject to a qualifying inspection and approval.
