Overview

This Peterbilt Model 348 Medium Duty chassis is built with a 336" van body (162" body height, 3,000 lb max laden weight), specced for processed foods hauling in refrigerated freight service. It's a day cab configuration with a 292" wheelbase and a 52,000 lb GVWR. Overall operating dimensions are rated at 40 ft length, 102 in width, and 13.5 ft height, and the unit carries a California Registry restriction.

Engine & Drivetrain

Powered by a PACCAR PX-9 engine rated 300 HP at 2,000 RPM (governed at 2,200 RPM) with 860 lb-ft of torque at 1,300 RPM, 2017-emissions compliant. Paired with an Allison 3000 RDS-P Rugged Duty Series automatic transmission (Gen 5), 6-speed close-ratio configuration with a dash-mounted push-button shifter, Allison FuelSense basic, and a TC-418 torque converter. Driveline is a 1710 HD unit with 2 midship bearings. Equipped with a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator, PACCAR 12V starter, and 3 PACCAR premium 12V dual-purpose batteries (2,190 CCA). Additional engine equipment includes an on/off fan clutch, 18.7 CFM air compressor, VGT exhaust brake, spin-on fuel/water separator, radial-seal dry-type air cleaner with frontal air intake, a high-efficiency cooling system, and engine protection shutdown with dash label. Exhaust is routed single RH-side of cab with DPF/SCR under cab and a 24" chrome standpipe with clear coat. Includes a programmable engine idle shutdown system with ambient temperature override and PTO-mode enable, plus CARB engine idling compliance. Fuel system consists of dual 23" aluminum 50-gallon tanks (RH and LH, both mounted behind cab) for 100 gallons of total capacity, along with a LH-mounted DEF tank (medium size, polished stainless steel cover) sized to a standard 2:1 or greater DEF-to-fuel ratio.

Chassis & Axles

Front axle is a Dana Spicer E1202IL rated 12,000 lbs with taper leaf springs and 12,000 lb shocks, a wide-track configuration, TRW THP60 power steering with a frame-mounted reservoir, and PHP10 aluminum preset hubs. Rear axle is a Dana Spicer DSP41 tandem drive axle rated 40,000 lbs, running a 4.88 rear axle ratio, with PHP10 aluminum preset hubs and standard-stroke parking brakes. Braking consists of Bendix air cam front drum brakes (16.5x5, rated for 10,000–14,600 lb steer axles) and Bendix air cam rear drum brakes (16.5x8.6), with a 4-channel/4-sensor (4S4M) anti-lock braking system and synthetic axle lubricant on all axles. GAWR is rated 12,000 lbs front / 20,000 lbs first intermediate / 20,000 lbs second intermediate. Front axle load is 12,000 lbs, rear axle load is 40,000 lbs, and GCW is 46,000 lbs. Frame consists of 10-5/8" steel rails (385"–444" length) at 5/16" thickness with three-piece crossmembers and a custom wheelbase/overhang; FAX/BOC measures 69.80", cab/axle 222.20", and cab/EOF 329". Maximum grade rating is 6%. Total estimated equipped weight is approximately 14,197 lbs per engineering estimate (actual shipping weight may vary).

Suspension

PB low air leaf rear suspension rated 40,000 lbs with a 52" spread, paired with a dash-mounted dump switch and suspension indicator light.

Cab & Interior

Aluminum 108" BBC day cab with a Metton hood and bright-finish crown. Peterbilt UltraRide driver and passenger seats — air-ride, high-back, Mordura trim on the driver's side, high-back Mordura on the passenger side. Grey/black interior with an adjustable tilt/telescoping steering column and a Peterbilt-logo steering wheel. Extended rear window (in place of the standard day-cab rear window) and a one-piece curved windshield. Combo fresh-air heater/air conditioner, floor-mounted cup holder, and a stainless steel outside sunvisor. Stainless steel 7"x16" heated mirrors, plus dual 8" convex stainless mirrors center-mounted with dual door stops, and auxiliary mirrors on both the RH and LH fender/hood. Power package with power door locks and windows, plus Cabmate cab air suspension. Standard cab speaker package (2 speakers) with a ConcertClass AM/FM/weatherband radio featuring CD, Bluetooth phone/audio, and USB/MP3. CB wiring terminals mounted under the header with LH and RH mirror-mount CB antenna provisions. PB electric windshield wipers with intermittent feature and plug-in auto-reset circuit breakers in place of fuses. Chrome 24.5" round air horn with polished horn shield. Cab-mounted, UL-listed/rated ABC fire extinguisher, triangle reflector kit, and a 107 dB backup alarm. Main instrumentation panel with graphics display, main transmission oil temperature gauge in the driver information display, and an air restriction indicator.

Body & Equipment

336" van body rated 162" in height with a 3,000 lb max laden weight. Aluminum battery box (LH, under-cab) with a non-slip step and rubber battery pad, plus a non-slip aluminum aftertreatment step (RH, under-cab). Steel styled aero bumper painted to match the cab, fitted with two tow pins. Body connections are routed 5 ft from the back of cab. Lighting includes composite fender-mounted headlights with integral park, turn, and side marker functions; 5 aero LED marker lights; 2 fog lights recessed in the bumper; and incandescent square stop/turn/tail/backup lights at the LH/RH square EOF. Finished in a two-stage Axalta paint: white (L0006EY) on the cab, hood top, cab roof, fenders, and bumper, with a black (N0001EA) frame.

Tires & Wheels

Front tires are Goodyear 14-ply 295/75R22.5 Endurance LHS. Rear tires are Goodyear 14-ply 295/75R22.5 G572 1AD Fuel Max, in an 8-tire rear configuration. Wheels are Accuride steel Armor 50291PK 22.5x8.25 heavy-duty units front and rear, with an 8-wheel rear configuration.

Warranty & Protection

As a used truck, this unit comes standard with an Assurant 30-day limited warranty. Buyers have the option to purchase an Assurant Heavy Truck Extended Service Contract for additional coverage beyond the standard 30 days, with multiple plan levels available (Premium, Powertrain Plus, Powertrain, Engine & Aftertreatment, Engine Only) and term lengths ranging from 6 months/50,000 miles up to 60 months/625,000 miles. Coverage is subject to a qualifying inspection and approval.
