Overview
This 2025 model year Peterbilt 520 LCF (low cab forward) is configured for refuse, scrap, and recycling hauling in on-highway refuse service, fitted with an automated side loader/push-out body. The unit carries a maximum operating grade rating of 6% and is built to U.S. registry standards, with an operating dimension parameter of 40 ft length, 102 in width, and 13.5 ft height.

Engine & Drivetrain
The PACCAR PX-9 (2025 model year, 2024 series emissions) is rated 370 hp @ 1900 rpm, governed at 2100 rpm, with 1250 lb-ft of torque @ 1200 rpm, running EMUX electronics architecture. The engine features a typical operating speed of 65 mph with the powertrain optimized for performance in vocational applications and heavy GCWR use, a 2-speed fan clutch for frequent start/stops, an 18.7 CFM air compressor, and a Jacobs C-Brake engine brake. Idle management includes a disabled idle shutdown timer with CARB and EPA idling compliance, plus a remote PTO/throttle provision (12-pin, engine bay). Supporting equipment includes a PACCAR 160-amp brushed alternator, an immersion-type block heater (110-120V), a PACCAR 12V starter with three PACCAR premium 12V starting batteries (3000 CCA), a Kissling 300-amp dual-tab battery disconnect switch, a high-efficiency cooling system, bugscreen, stainless steel grille, heavy duty air cleaner, and a vertical LH exhaust with DPF/SCR (single module) and 90-degree diffuser.

Power routes through an Allison 4500 RDS-P automatic transmission (Gen 6 Rugged Duty Series, 6-speed configuration) with FuelSense DynActive dynamic shift sensing, neutral-at-stop, a console-mounted push-button shifter, World Trans primary shift schedule 1, a TC-541 torque converter, an output neutral indicator for PTO, and a rolling direction change shift inhibit feature. Driveline components include a 1810 HD driveline with 2 midship bearings (4.5" x .180 wall tubing) and a 1710 interaxle driveline for the tandem rear axles, plus a dash-mounted single-acting electric-over-hydraulic PTO control.

Chassis & Axles
The frame uses 10-3/4" steel rails (3/8" thickness) with a full steel inner liner and zinc-coated anti-corrosion treatment, a 221" wheelbase, 221" cab/axle, and 296" cab/EOF, with a FEPTO provision 9" bumper extension and a square EOF with steel crossmember. The front axle is a PACCAR FX-20 steer axle rated 20,000 lbs with a 4" drop (GAWR front 20,000 lbs). The rear axle is a Dana Spicer D46-172 rated 46,000 lbs (GAWR 23,000 lbs at each intermediate position) with a 5.57 ratio and differential lock on both axles. GVWR and GCW are both rated at 66,000 lbs. Braking includes Bendix air cam front drum brakes (16.5x7) and rear drum brakes (16.5x8.6), refuse service brakes on steer and drive axles, rear brake camshaft reinforcement, heavy wall drive axle(s), a drive axle lube pump, gusseted cam brackets front and rear, an anti-lock braking system (ABS 6S6M), and synthetic axle lubricant throughout. Both axles ride on PHP10 iron preset+ hubs.

Suspension
Front suspension uses taper leaf springs with shocks rated for 20,000 lbs. The rear suspension is a Hendrickson HMX EX 460, rated 46,000 lbs, with 54" HaulMAAX and a 70K creep rating, paired with heavy duty Hendrickson HMX EX shock absorbers.

Cab & Interior
The cab is a 53" LCF ProBilt, right-hand drive, with a gray interior, thermal insulation package, and 4.5" rubber flares on the cab and wheel well fenders. Seating includes a Peterbilt air ride driver seat (high back, vinyl) and a Peterbilt non-air ride passenger seat (low back, vinyl), with an adjustable tilt/telescope steering column and steering wheel featuring the Peterbilt logo. Visibility and access features include a two-piece flat windshield, a fixed rear window (BOC, standard tint, 18.5"x54"), a combo fresh air heater/air conditioner, an outside stainless steel sunvisor, black heated motorized dual-plane door mirrors with additional convex mirrors, a textured NFPA-compliant exterior cab entry grabhandle, an air-assist cab tilt pump, rain gutters over both doors, and electric pantograph windshield wipers with intermittent feature. The instrument panel is a 7" digital cluster display showing transmission oil temperature and engine PTO hourmeter, along with an air restriction indicator, a battery disconnect switch warning light, and two additional dash switches. Infotainment includes satellite radio, a ConcertClass AM/FM/WB radio with 3.5mm aux input, a midlevel 4-speaker package, Bluetooth phone and audio, a USB port, global telematics hardware, and a 5-year SmartLinQ RD remote diagnostics subscription. Additional equipment includes a 15" painted air horn mounted under the cab, single rectangular halogen headlights, five LED clearance and two LED marker lights, daytime running lights, self-canceling turn signals, a triangle reflector kit, a cab-mounted fire extinguisher (HAZMAT approved, UL listed/rated ABC), and backup alarm wiring to the EOF.

Body & Equipment
The automated side loader/push-out refuse body measures 288" in length and 150" in height, with a 66,000-lb max laden weight rating, connected via a Heil body connection harness. Supporting chassis equipment includes an aluminum LH frame-mounted battery box at the back of the fender with a rubber battery pad, a painted steel bumper channel with a notched top flange and a screen over the air intake opening, a Bendix AD-HF EP air dryer with heater, coalescing filter, and extended purge, nylon chassis air hose, a central air tank drain valve location, and high-mounted steel painted air tanks (BOC/BOS). Fuel and DEF systems consist of a 26" aluminum 80-gallon fuel tank mounted LH behind the cab with a fuel cooler, and a 7.3-gallon DEF tank mounted LH BOC with a DEF-to-fuel ratio between 1:1 and 2:1. The unit is finished in Axalta two-stage paint with a white cab, hood, and cab roof, and a black frame and bumper.

Tires & Wheels
Front tires are 20-ply 315/80R22.5 HAU3, and rear tires are 16-ply 11R22.5 HDC3 with TPMS sensors (eight rear tires total). Wheels are ACC Steel Armor heavy duty, 22.5x9.00 up front and 22.5x8.25 on the rear (eight rear rims total).
