Overview
This 2024 Peterbilt 520 LCF (low cab forward) is configured as a refuse/on-highway chassis for residential front loader/push-out collection of refuse, scrap, and recycling, built with a 28 cubic yard Heil HalfPack front loader body.

Engine & Drivetrain
Powered by a PACCAR MX-11 rated 400 HP at 1600 RPM (governed to 2200 RPM) with 1,450 lb-ft of torque at 900 RPM, refuse-duty calibrated and 2024-emissions compliant, on VMUX electronics architecture. Paired with an Allison 4500 RDS-P Gen 6 Rugged Duty Series automatic transmission in a 6-speed configuration with a console-mounted push-button shifter, TC-541 torque converter, and an Allison output function S neutral indicator for PTO. Driveline consists of an 1810 HD shaft with midship bearing (4.5" x .180 wall tubing) and a 1710 interaxle driveline for the tandem rear axles. Equipped with an engine compression brake, MX retarder with auto-retard enabled, and PTO mode control operable from the cab station and a dash-mounted switch. Additional engine equipment includes a reinforced belly pan, remote PTO/throttle 12-pin engine bay remote control provision, engine monitoring protection (derate), 160-amp 36 SI brushless alternator, PACCAR premium starter, three PACCAR premium 12V dual-purpose batteries (2,190 CCA) with a Kissling 300-amp battery disconnect switch, Wabco 25.9 CFM air compressor, 2-speed fan clutch for frequent start/stop duty, PACCAR fuel/water separator with extended service interval, high-efficiency cooling system, bugscreen, stainless steel grille, heavy-duty air cleaner with pre-cleaner, and a vertical LH exhaust (DPF/SCR, single module) with a 90-degree diffuser.

Chassis & Axles
Front axle is a PACCAR FX-20 rated 20,000 lbs with a 4" drop, taper leaf springs, Sheppard M100 dual-gear power steering, and Bendix air cam front drum brakes (16.5x7). Rear axle is a Meritor RT46-160 rated 46,000 lbs with a 5.38 ratio, refuse-duty service brakes at steer and drive axles, Bendix air cam rear drum brakes (16.5x8.6), and ABS (6S6M). GVWR is 66,000 lbs, with a 20,000 lb front GAWR and 23,000 lb GAWR on each of the first and second intermediate axle groups. Wheelbase measures 210", cab-to-axle 210", and cab-to-end-of-frame 335", with a maximum grade rating of 6%. Frame is built from 10-3/4" steel rails (343"-450", 3/8" thickness) with a full steel inner liner and zinc-coated anti-corrosion treatment, a FEPTO 4-7/8" bumper extension, and (2) Holland TH-10050 tow hooks at the end of frame. Overall operating dimensions are 40' length, 102" width, and 13'6" height. Fuel system includes a 26" aluminum 80-gallon fuel tank mounted RH behind the cab with a perforated anti-siphon device, a 7.3-gallon DEF tank (LH BOC) sized to a minimum 2:1 DEF-to-fuel ratio, and a PACCAR MX engine fuel cooler. Air system includes a Bendix AD-HF EP air dryer with heater, coalescing filter, and extended purge, nylon chassis hose, a compressor discharge line test valve, centrally located air tank drain valves, and steel painted air tanks.

Suspension
Hendrickson HMX EX rear suspension rated 46,000 lbs with a 54" spread, Haulmaax and a 70K creep rating, paired with matched shock absorbers.

Cab & Interior
53" LCF ProBilt cab, left-hand drive, with a thermal insulation package and 4.5" rubber flares on the cab and wheel well fenders. Peterbilt driver seat (air ride, high back, vinyl) and passenger seat (non-air ride, low back, vinyl), with a right-side driver armrest and orange seat belts. Gray interior with high-visibility yellow-painted grabhandles, a tilt/telescoping steering column, and a Peterbilt logo steering wheel. Diamond plate floor covering and a textured, NFPA-compliant exterior cab entry grabhandle. Two-piece flat windshield, combo fresh-air heater/air conditioner, heated and motorized stainless mirrors with integrated convex lenses, a stainless look-down mirror mounted at the front of the cab, and (4) additional convex 8" stainless mirrors. ConcertClass AM/FM/weatherband radio with 3.5mm aux input, a 4-speaker midlevel package, Bluetooth phone/audio, USB port, and SmartLINQ remote diagnostics with a 5-year remote/OTA subscription. Air-assisted cab tilt pump, front cab guard painted black, rain gutters over both doors, and electric pantograph windshield wipers with an intermittent feature. Digital 7" instrument cluster displays transmission oil temperature, air restriction, brake application air pressure, and F/O PTO status. Single rectangular halogen headlights, LED clearance and marker lighting with light guards, self-canceling turn signals, and park-brake-activated brake lights. Cab-mounted fire extinguisher (UL listed/rated ABC) and a ship-loose triangle reflector kit. Finished in a two-stage Axalta paint scheme — white cab, hood, and roof with a black frame and bumper.

Body & Equipment
Heil HalfPack 28 cubic yard residential front loader/push-out body, 288" long and 162" tall, rated for a 1,000 lb max laden weight. Full factory-mounted for service hoist or serviceable eject, including body props and a rear pivot sump to body (curbside only). Driven by a front-mount vane pump and controlled with a left-hand, dual-axis electric joystick. Body upgrades include a 1/4" AR400 steel floor (in lieu of standard 3/16"), a steel sliding top door, a universal steel frame cab protector with steel sheet and a manual-jack extension raise, a steel tailgate-mounted roof access ladder, a 3" hopper drain plug, rodent-resistant fully-encapsulating wire loom, a second 20 lb. fire extinguisher, a rear caution decal, and a bolt-on fender extension kit. Lighting includes a single LED windscreen-mounted container light, multi-function lights, LED body side backing-assist lights, dual oval flat LED strobes mounted mid-tailgate (activated by in-cab switch, pump-on, and reverse), dual LED cab guard flood lights, and a cab shield-mounted LED light aimed at the hopper opening. Vision system includes a base 3rd Eye single-camera system with a 7" monitor and tailgate-mounted camera, plus a separate 3rd Eye hopper camera. Also equipped with an 18"x18"x24" aluminum bumper-mounted toolbox, a painted steel bumper channel with a screened air intake opening, and an aluminum battery box mounted at the left frame rail.

The Heil HalfPack body carries a 5-year Infinity cylinder-only warranty (months 13-60), covering up to a maximum of 10,000 hours of operation.
